Ketolog tablet is used for the prevention and management of protein metabolism disorders in patients with chronic kidney disease. It is particularly recommended for adults on a low-protein diet (≤40 g/day) and those with a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) below 25 mL/min.
Ketolog works by mimicking natural amino acid metabolism. The ketoanalogues are converted into essential amino acids by utilizing nitrogen from non-essential amino acids. This process helps:
- Improve protein metabolism
- Reduce urea formation
- Lower nitrogen load on kidneys
- Support overall kidney function
